- Studied Ethnography and European Ethnology, German Philology and Medieval And Modern History in Hamburg and Göttingen
- 1992; Graduated with an MA
- 1995/96; Immanuel-Kant-Fellowship of the Herder-Research-Council. Research visit to Poland
- 1997; Doctorate in Ethnic Studies. Worked in further education and museums
- 1998-2003; academic staff-member at the Johannes-Künzig-Institute in Freiburg, with a teaching position at University of Freiburg. Followed by parental leave and freelance work
- 2007; academic staff-member at the BKGE
